There were times when I was single and imagined myself in romances in my songs, and of course there are also times when you are married, have children and a great wife, and still write a song about being left just before Christmas and then celebrating the feast of love alone and lonely. With my trained imagination, the biggest catastrophe can be built out of the smallest quarrel. That's why the song is actually written in the mood it describes, driven by the great sadness that this beautiful relationship is now obviously on the rocks. Needless to say, all was well the next day, and I had new lyrics. That's fair compensation for a mind that's constantly scaring you.
